Goal. Assessment of the state, trends and identification of the features of the functioning of free economic zones (FEZ) of the regions of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Tasks. To assess the state of development of the FEZ and identify the directions of economic development of the regions. The object of the study. The economy of the region. Methodology. The research uses methods of historical and economic analysis, economic and statistical methods, evolutionary and institutional theory, expert and analytical assessments. Results. The modern economy has clearly shown the need for close not only global economic ties, but also the interdependence of the country's regions in order to preserve the integrity of the state, economic self-sufficiency, on the basis of attracting foreign investment. Conclusions. In its development, Uzbekistan is already moving towards the creation of a new powerful industry focused on meeting domestic needs, and the intensification of industry and agriculture in order to organize modern high-tech export-oriented industries based on the integrated and effective use of the production and resource potential of the regions of the republic through in-depth processing of local mineral resources and agricultural raw materials, creating on this basis new jobs and increased incomes of the population. The scope of the results. The results obtained can be used to adjust the priorities and directions of spatial development of Uzbekistan, its domestic and foreign economic policy.
