Abstract

The article focuses on the historical phenomenon of N. Erdenipel, a Buddhist lama who made a significant contribution to the study of Mongolian civilization. The article explores his unique method, which involved understanding Mongolia’s historical journey through the lens of its civilizational development, which dates back to ancient times. The article highlights the special role of Buddhism, which has been inextricably linked to the culture and identity of the Mongolian people for centuries. From this perspective, Mongolia is seen not just as a state, but as a historical center and core of a unique civilization. The article analyzes how the Buddhist lama, relying on this legacy, developed and expanded Mongolian civilizational science. The study substantiates the periodization of Mongolia’s historical development, including its modern stage, from the perspective of a civilizational approach. This approach allows us to view Mongolia as a stable cultural and historical center. Against this backdrop, we see the intellectual phenomenon of Erdeni-Pela, who, as a successor to the Buddhist tradition, offered a new and comprehensive vision of the history of Mongolian civilization.
