Abstract

Environmental behavior refers to the actions (or inaction) of the population to protect the environment and conserve resources, which are carried out not in production, but in everyday life. Such a socio-ecological approach is aimed at expanding the characteristics of human potential with an ecological component. Environmental behavior of the population is manifested in a wide variety of actions, but there is no information available to reflect most of them in the regional context. In this regard, the study of ecological behavior in the article is limited to three aspects: the formation of solid municipal waste, household and drinking water consumption and electricity consumption by the population. The corresponding indicators have been analyzed over two decades for all Russian regions. The difficulties of collecting information caused by the need to contact various ministries and authorities due to the limited data provided in its publications by Rosstat on environmental issues are reflected. The analysis of changes in indicators of environmental behavior of the population in each region, as well as a comparative interregional analysis of dynamic series, is carried out. The trends in the environmental behavior of the population of the regions and the factors that generate them have been identified.
