Abstract

This article analyzes the availability of primary health care for the elderly living in two different districts of St. Petersburg: in the historical district and in a modern residential complex. The empirical basis of the study was made up of semi-structured interviews with representatives of this population category. The research method used was thematic analysis and quantitative lexical analysis of interview narratives. Within the framework of each topic, the peculiarities of the perception of the urban environment by the elderly, as well as possible problems caused by infrastructural constraints, are considered. It is noted that in the old districts, the artificiality of the urban environment is situational in nature and is associated with the inconsistency of historical buildings with modern requirements. In new areas, artificiality is embedded in the very design logic: urban infrastructure does not take into account the needs of the elderly.
