Abstract

The VIII Rimashevsky Readings "Saving Russia's Population: Health, Employment, and the Level and Quality of Life", held annually by the Institute of Socio-Economic Problems of the Population of the Federal Research Sociological Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences named after N.M. Rimashevskaya (ISEPN of the FRSC RAS) in collaboration with the Department of Social Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences, took place on March 27, 2025. This year, they were also supported by the journal "Regional Problems of Economic Transformation". The conference is held annually in memory of Natalia Mikhailovna Rimashevskaya, the founder and first director of the Institute of Social and Economic Research. The Institute was named after her in March 2022. Four thematic blocks for discussion at the conference have been unchanged for several years: - Demographic indicators of modern Russia: birth rates, mortality rates, settlement and migration of the population - the main trends and their determinants; - Human potential of Russia: education, physical, mental and social health of the population and the factors that determine them; - Living standards of the population: what is happening with employment, what are and what should be salaries, pensions, social transfers; - Quality of life of the population: environmental and food security, housing security, availability of social services, opportunities for professional self-realization, gender issues. And the fifth thematic block in this anniversary year of Victory 2025 was entitled "To the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.
