Abstract

The article discusses the problems and results of research into the dialectics of the relationship between digital technologies and humanistic principles and values in the context of the formation of a global information civilization. The authors rely on the analysis of modern theories and practices of digital society and V. I. Vernadsky's concept of noosphere, which allows us to comprehend the transition to digital civilization as a stage in the evolution of the biosphere, where human thought plays a key role. As an empirical basis we used the data of the All-Russian sociological monitoring ‘How are you, Russia?’ (ISPR FCTAS RAS), reflecting some concerns of citizens in connection with the widespread introduction of artificial intelligence, as well as the paradox of trust in information disseminated on the Internet. Key challenges related to the growing dependence on artificial intelligence, the decline in the quality of interpersonal interaction, the concentration of power in the hands of technological corporations and the crisis of trust in information are outlined. Special attention is paid to the contradictory consequences of digitalization. Information and communication technologies (ICT), neural networks and artificial intelligence open up opportunities for solving global problems of ecology, resource management, and at the same time increase social material and spiritual disparities and information fragmentation. The authors conclude that ethical norms and moral humanistic imperatives of technological progress, social responsibility, socio-cultural and ethno-political peculiarities must be respected.
