Abstract

This article examines how Moscow’s cultural institutions adapted to the modernization of the urban environment in the period from 2000 to 2025. The research is based on a synthesis of cultural, urban, and institutional-economic approaches, which makes it possible to analyze in detail the mechanisms of reforming the capital’s cultural institutions and their contribution to the formation of a new cultural identity of the city. Particular attention is paid to hybrid development models that combine government modernization policies, global trends, and the desire to preserve historical heritage. The results of the study show that the spatial transformation of cultural objects has become the basis for their functional redesign and increased social significance. Conclusions highlight the need for a balance between commercialization, inclusiveness, and the preservation of authenticity in urban development strategies. The practical significance of the study lies in the recommendations for urban planning policy and management of cultural resources of the city.
