Abstract

Objective of the study: to analyze the relationship between the subjective assessment of the financial situation and adherence to traditional spiritual and moral values among residents of the Rostov region. The methodological base of the study is represented by empirical data from a sociological study conducted by the law faculty of the South-Russian branch of the Federal Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences from 2024–2025. The main research method is a questionnaire. It was possible to establish a stable correlation: the higher the subjective assessment of the respondents’ material well-being, the higher the proportion of those who consider most traditional values important. Significant results were obtained confirming the hypothesis that there is a significant relationship between the level of subjective well-being and adherence to spiritual and moral values. It has been revealed that traditional values are more of a philosophical foundation for those who feel financially successful and socially secure, while for groups with low subjective well-being, the relevance of many values (except basic ones) decreases, which is associated with the focus on building survival strategies.
