The research data show that the group of respondents with a pronounced civic identity is not inclined to unambiguously relate to foreign migrants, there is a certain bias towards «friendly» assessments. Respondents with an unexpressed civic identity tend to be treated with indifference. At the same time, respondents with a pronounced civic identity tend to make a balanced assessment of the impact of migrants’ stay, highlighting both positive and negative consequences. The opinion of respondents with an unexpressed civic identity regarding the influence of migrants is divided, without a central trend. Estimates of social distance in relation to groups of migrants based on their origin are more likely to be consistent with generalized attitudes towards foreign migrants. In general, the expression of civic identity rather does not affect the increase in the distance between the host community and foreign migrants.
