Abstract

The article examines the actors and mechanisms of transformation of family values in urban culture in modern Russia, with a particular focus on youth in the metropolis. Considering rapid socio-cultural change, young people’s perceptions of family and family values are undergoing significant transformation. Young people in megacities are demonstrating trends towards delaying the formation of a family, altering the roles of partners in relationships, and redefining traditional family functions. Analysis shows that the development of family values among young adults is influenced by social institutions such as the media, education, and the labor market, resulting in a shift away from traditional family roles and towards meeting emotional needs for love, support, and care. The trends towards postponing the creation of a family, changing the roles of partners in family relationships and rethinking traditional family roles are revealed. The study emphasizes the need to adapt social policies to modern realities, considering young people’s values and new expectations regarding families.
