Abstract

The article examines the value components of Russian identity as a key element of social consolidation. The formation of Russian identity, combining both spontaneous and institutional aspects of nation-building, is based (according to E. Renan) on the principle of the voluntary consent of citizens to live together and share a single system of values. This chapter focuses on the analysis of relevant value foundations that determine the macro-political content of Russian identity in the current historical period and contribute to the formation of the Russian nation as a political community.
