Abstract

This textbook explores the main trends and challenges in the development of modern comparative political science. Particular attention is paid to methodological and procedural issues of comparative analysis in political science, the balance between qualitative and quantitative approaches to the study of modern political institutions and processes in various countries, and measurement tools for studying democracy, the institutional design of states, political parties, electoral systems, federations, and public policy. The work contains extensive empirical material. The content of the textbook complies with the latest requirements of the Federal State Educational Standard for Higher Education.
