Abstract

This article analyzes existing modern families and then models multi-generational families in the context of new approaches to large families in the Russian Federation. This framework is used to formulate and propose new solutions for family and demographic policy. The current demographic situation is analyzed, and new ways to address the demographic crisis are explored. Taking into account the concept of spatial rural development in the form of agro-towns for large families in Russia within the context of urban agglomeration theory, the possibility of transforming the population reproduction regime and increasing its size is proposed. The novelty of this study, its analysis, and conclusions stem from its focus on the practices of countries with relatively successful fertility and economic performance. The article consists of three parts. The first, ‘Structure,’ analyzes the history of multi-generational families. The second, ‘Realities,’ examines the contemporary life of multi-generational and large families, analyzing the dynamics of relationships between the older and younger generations. The third, ‘Perspective,’ discusses the country’s demographic development and proposes new approaches to addressing this. This research provides a comparative analysis of current demographic indicators in Russia. The article was written taking into account new federal laws, regulatory legal acts, and an analysis of official demographic statistics.
