Abstract

The article, prepared on the basis of the results of a sociological study of the Russian Society of Sociologists «Cultural Traditions and the connection of generations», analyzes the impact of rejection of state ideology and the proclamation of political diversity in the Constitution of the Russian Federation on the historical memory of Russian students. Communicative family memory preserves a number of traditions, in particular, the participation of the vast majority of family members in the celebration of Victory Day and Defender of the Fatherland Day on February 23, since previous generations were involved in them either through participation in the Great Patriotic War or through military service, which was mandatory for men. Holidays that are not filled with emotional engagement are secondary. The historical and political pluralism of the last decades about the Second World War forms indifference to many events, in particular the demolition of monuments to those who fought with Hitler's army and the installation of collaborators with it. As a result,a significant part of the students are indifferent to the symbols of the common history of the CIS countries — monuments dedicated to the heroes of the Patriotic War. The author concludes that in the absence of a value scale «it is possible/impossible» in the context of the constitutional prohibition of state ideology and the consolidation of the right to opposing economic, political interests and cultural values, it is impossible through the lessons of history to form patriotism as a variant of a national idea, the functionality of which is the unification of citizens to achieve a certain social ideal capable of consolidating society.
