Abstract

The key vectors of contemporary spatial transformations in various countries around the world are the formation of large macroregions, as well as the expansion and strengthening of agglomerations. This article presents an attempt to conduct a comparative analysis of the formation of capital regions in Russia and China in the context of changing contemporary spatial development vectors in these countries. The comparative method formed the basis of the study and allowed for parallels in the development trends of the capital regions of Russia and China, while the systems approach allowed for an examination of the spatial component of infrastructural transformations in the Moscow metropolitan region and the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
