Abstract

The purpose of this article is to study the current components of inflation and assess the perception of «price fluctuations» by the Russian population in the current socio-economic conditions of the development of the domestic economy, the trends of which have a direct impact on consumer behavior. The object of the research is the dominant factors of inflation and the identification of the causes affecting consumption with a focus on price changes. The subject is modern formats of perception of inflationary processes by the Russian population, which have an impact on consumer behavior. In the article, the authors use analytical approaches, as well as statistical comparison methods based on the analysis of secondary data and indicators of monitoring sociological research on the studied issues. The uniqueness of the study lies in the fact that the current situation is quite «non-standard»: on the one hand, the Central Bank is forced to raise or strictly control the refinancing rate to keep prices from rising, and on the other, there is so-called «accumulated inflation» in the consumer market. In addition, there is no expansion in the supply of consumer goods. All this leads to the emergence of an «inflationary spiral mechanism.» Rising prices for consumer goods are the main negative problem of inflation, which negatively affects consumer behavior and creates certain risks for domestic producers of goods and services. The article reflects the main trends in consumer behavior in modern socio-economic conditions. The statistical indicators of ROSSTAT, the results of monitoring sociological studies of analytical centers such as VTsIOM, NAFI, inFOM LLC, as well as materials presented on the open resources of the Bank of Russia and the Government of the Russian Federation were used as the basis for the analysis. The results obtained in the framework of the conducted research can be useful and practically significant for scientists, specialists, as well as researchers who study the specifics of consumer behavior of Russians in terms of the impact of inflationary processes and fluctuations in prices for goods and services in our country.
