Abstract

The topic of this publication has remained relevant throughout almost the entire post-Soviet history of our country, given the threats faced by its socio-political and economic system as a result of the transformation of Russian society from a Soviet to a market-based model of socio-economic development, and the attempts to introduce Western liberal ideology and morality into the mass consciousness of Russians, which is distorting their system of traditional values. The authors of the article focus on the study of the essence and structure of patriotism in the context of our country's recovery from the systemic crisis of the 1990s, as an idea and mechanism for a systematic approach to the formation of the individual and citizen of modern Russia, as a fundamental condition for ensuring the unity of Russian society, its progressive development, and national security. After analyzing the publications on this topic, the authors came to the conclusion that patriotism is a complex structural formation, all of whose constituent elements are in a complex dialectical relationship and include such elements as historical memory, cultural heritage, humanitarian education, and spiritual and moral development of the individual. The successful functioning of these elements is aimed at concentrating the organizational efforts of all actors in this process on the patriotic education of representatives of all social and age groups, nationalities, religions, and political and ideological beliefs.
