Abstract

This chapter discusses a typology of forms of social cohesion based on the differentiation of the moral components underlying cohesion processes. First, we examine influential contemporary Western theories of morality that informed the development of our qualitative research framework for studying cohesion across different social groups. We then present the findings of the empirical studies conducted. Finally, we propose a refined typology of forms of social cohesion based on the diversity of forms of group-oriented morality.
