Abstract

Based on an analysis of a large‑scale sociological study conducted by the Faculty of Philosophy at Lomonosov Moscow State University, the article examines the problem of the mismatch between the value systems of modern youth and their practical implementation in their actions. The author emphasizes the methodological value of the work, in which young people are divided into age subgroups, which makes it possible to identify the nuances of value priorities. Special attention is paid to the “family paradox”: despite the high importance of family and having children, real actions are blocked by socio‑economic instability and underlying anxiety. The discussion focuses on the crisis of trust in state and public institutions, as well as the impact of the digital environment, where informal leaders (bloggers) are displacing official figures, and NEET youth find escapism in the virtual space. The author draws attention to the polarization of society and the strong reaction of young people to the mismatch between the words and deeds of political and other authorities. As a resource, the development of local communities and informal channels of influence based on trust is proposed. The pragmatism of young people is interpreted not as a flaw, but as a manifestation of awareness, requiring new approaches in education — the principle of guided independence and the formation of subjectivity. Successful experience in environmental education demonstrates the effectiveness of naturally and consistently integrating values into everyday practice. In conclusion, recommendations are formulated for comprehensive work at the macro- and micro-levels, and the need for a new language of dialogue based on trust and respect is emphasized in order to bridge the gap between values and actions.
