It considers the transformation of the structure of causes of death against the background of socio-economic changes over the period from 1965 to 2023 and analyzes the influence of factors of male supermortality in different periods for the age intervals 15—19 years (before the start of active working life) and 25—54 years. The group of the most economically active population is considered: late working age was excluded because of the high likelihood of comorbidity, and early working age was excluded to reduce the proportion of students. The influence of biological, behavioral, and institutional factors on the excess mortality of adolescent males and men of active working age at the end of the previous century and in the current period is compared. The article concludes that an effective policy to reduce premature mortality must take into account the age and gender specificity of risks, strengthen primary prevention of cardiovascular diseases, improve sports work with adolescents, enhance the system for registering causes of death, and target the social determinants of men's health, including the transformation of gender stereotypes concerning attitudes toward health.Content (in russ)hide table of contentsshow table of contents
