Abstract

The article examines the structural characteristics and regional specifics of the emigration of the Russian-speaking population to the countries of Southeast Asia in the period 2020—2025. Based on the data of a targeted sociological survey (N=390), the socio-demographic profile of migrants, their professional affiliation, migration intentions and the territorial distribution of origin across the subjects of the Russian Federation are analyzed. A socio-demographic portrait of the emigrant has been compiled with the reasons and goals of the move. The official statistics of the host countries on migration flows from the Russian Federation were taken into account. It is revealed that the outflow is mainly of a long-term nature, concentrated in a cohort of the working-age population (30—44 years old) and affects key sectors of the knowledge economy. The main recipient countries in Southeast Asia, the sphere of activity of Russians and the specifics of their assimilation into local society are noted. The differentiated influence of emigration on the demographic potential of the central, depressed and peripheral regions of Russia is substantiated.
