Abstract

The article develops a methodological model for sociological monitoring of migrant adaptation and integration. Existing approaches to describing migration processes mainly focus on quantitative parameters of foreign citizens’ stay and do not sufficiently reflect the degree of their inclusion in the host society. The aim of the article is to develop a methodological model for monitoring migrant adaptation and integration based on institutional, indicator-based, comparative and risk-oriented approaches. The proposed system of assessment criteria includes eight basic criteria. The article shows that migrant adaptation and integration depend not only on individual characteristics of migrants, but also on the quality of the receiving environment. The proposed model can be applied in academic research, regional and municipal monitoring, and programmes aimed at supporting migrants. The article concludes that it is necessary to move towards a comprehensive assessment of migrants’ position and their inclusion in the host society.
