Methods of analysis, generalization, ranking, and logical-historical analysis were used. Modern methodologies began to emerge in the 1990s thanks to Professors V.A. Yadov and E.N. Danilova, who developed a disaggregated approach to identification parameters, increasing their number to 24. Later, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences M.K. Gorshkov and Professor N.E. Tikhonova significantly reduced this number. Alternative methodologies have also been proposed by VTsIOM (2014) and the Center for Social Research «Platform» with the Russian State University for the Humanities (2023). The author proposes her own methodology for studying identities in the digital space, using data from VKontakte. The conclusions highlight the need to adapt methods to the challenges of modern social networks.
