Abstract

The principal trend of human capital accumulation under post-industrial modernizations is identified with the transition to the system of continuing education, which institutions are considered as an organic derivation of post-industrial society and its ‘knowledge economy’. Additional vocational education of most employable and economically active part of the population plays a basic role in this process. As a consequence, socio-economic, including educational, inequalities are growing. They determine people’s status and economic capabilities, their perception of reality and everyday behavior. As regards adult population in contemporary Russia, the authors have discovered significant interrelation between peoples’ ability to motivated learning and their perception of modernization arrangements as well as their willingness to participate in them.

The book is targeted for the sociologists and economists who investigate into interrelations between education and socio-economic factors of human development as well as for those who are interested in issues of the Russian society modernization.
