Statistical data shows that population of the capital of Russia is aging more intensively than the population of the country in the whole. Shows real and possible consequences of population ageing in Moscow, explains the transition this issue into the category of social risk. Examples of negative consequences and suggests ways to minimize the social risk of an ageing population for the specific state structures of the Metropolitan region: The Pension Fund and the social protection system of the population. Shows the basic contradiction arising between the possibilities of authorities and requirements of elderly members of society in conditions of increasing negative impact of the economic crisis and growing demographic and social pressures on the country. Suggests ways out of the current circumstances.
