Abstract

The purpose of the article is to reveal the nature of the relationship between foreign students — educational migrants and representatives of the host community of the university in which they are trained. The empirical base includes the results of an applied sociological study carried out by the team of the South-Russian branch of the FCTAS RAS in 2021 by the method of a questionnaire survey of foreign university students in the South of Russia. Research result. Despite the fact that foreign students studying at universities of the Southern Federal District are characterized by a positive attitude towards representatives of the host community at the level of socio-psychological attitudes formed even before arriving in the country of study and persisting in the process of studying and directly staying in a new society for themselves, and the established effective practices of interaction of educational migrants with representatives of the host community through the expansion of extracurricular activities of universities, still educational migrants of the Southern Federal District who have become participants in the study, demonstrate the predominance in behavior of the strategy of limiting interactions with the host community, which may be a barrier to the implementation of the migration policy of the Russian Federation. The prospect of the study. The proposed study emphasizes the need to consider educational (educational) migrants as an independent social group in the context of studying such social processes as adaptation and integration of migrants.
