Abstract

The purpose of the research is to actualization of the problem of studying the family and social status of students in the history of Russia on the example of Soviet students of Oriental studies. The methodological basis of the general scientific and special historical research methods. The scientific methods used include comparative, causal and statistical analysis. Research result. The historical sources available today allow us to begin restoring the historical picture of the student family and identifying the problems associated with it. Materials from the collections of the Far Eastern archives indicate that in the first half of the twentieth century, most Oriental students in Vladivostok did not have families, but there are direct and indirect references in the documents to married students and listeners. The presence of family students is also indicated by their age characteristics. Problems related to the family were not relevant for the university in Vladivostok, unlike problems of the quality of education or health status. The authorities and society controlled the social origin and social status of the students. In the post-war era, the situation has changed. The example of Moscow universities shows that at that time student families became commonplace. Family students had some advantages. The prospects of the research are to expanding the source base for a comprehensive study of the student family.
