Abstract

The article analyzes the causes of the formation of dysfunctions of the historical memory of the Great Patriotic War. It is proved that legislative acts restricting the creation/ dissemination of historical fakes are unable to prevent the polyphony of ideas about the past. The internal and foreign policy of the state/states, overturned in the past, gives a variety of interpretations even of documented facts. History is written by the winners, but no matter how well it is written, public opinion corrects it depending on the degree of trust in the authorities.
