Abstract

The emotional components of the Russian identity are studied. The conceptual approaches of the sociology of emotions and the theory of social identity are applied. The data of the All-Russian sociological surveys, the results of the media analysis for 2020 and the data of expert surveys are used. The dynamics of positive and negative feelings towards Russia in the period 2015-2020 is analyzed. Feelings of resentment (resentment and shame, indignation) are involved in the formation of Russian identity, but they are not of a mass nature. Positive emotions pride in Russia and faith in Russia are widely represented in media reports, and respect, according to mass polls, is the most stable and widespread emotion towards Russia.
