Abstract

Relevance. Distrust of vaccination is an important obstacle to achieving collective immunity. This problem was relevant both in prerevolutionary Russia and in the XXI century. The purpose of this work is to study the factors shaping the attitude of the population of the Russian Federation to vaccination against the new coronavirus infection COVID-19. Materials and methods. The study is based on the data of a sociological survey conducted from January 3 to January 9, 2022. As a result of the initial data analysis, 953 questionnaires were selected. The survey questionnaire contained 16 questions that allowed to establish the socio- demographic profile of respondents, to identify attitudes to vaccination, preference for Western or Russian-made vaccines and an assessment of the response of the healthcare system to the pandemic. The questionnaires were processed using the SPSS package, the reliability of the results was confirmed by the data of the corresponding statistical tests. Results. The study showed that a year after the start of the vaccination campaign, there is still a significant proportion of respondents who are distrustful of coronavirus vaccines. Among the respondents who have not been vaccinated, the proportion of those who have a distrust of vaccines was about 44 %. Some respondents (about 26 %) showed distrust only of Russian-made vaccines, and some (about 16 %) are categorically against any vaccinations. As a result of the data analysis, a number of dependencies were revealed between the socio-demographic characteristics of respondents and the attitude to vaccination. The relationship between trust in the Russian healthcare system and the desire to be vaccinated was also revealed. It is shown that the subjective assessment of trust in the Russian healthcare system is a significant factor in the respondent’s attitude to vaccination against coronavirus infection. Comparing the results of the current sociological survey with our previous study, it is noted that for the period from the beginning of 2021 to the beginning of 2022 the level of public confidence in the Russian healthcare system has increased by 5 %.
