Abstract

The purpose of the study is to characterize the level of scientific elaboration of the problem of the influence of the perception of the future on the socio-demographic behavior of people in the field of fertility. Research methods: selection, analysis and systematization of current sources of scientific literature reflecting the influence of confidence or uncertainty about the future on the demographic indicators of developed countries with low birth rates (Europe, USA, Australia, Russia). The results of the study. It is revealed that in conditions of increasing uncertainty, the factor of perception of the future has a significant impact on the demographic behavior of people. It is shown that a conceptual basis for research has been formed, a range of scientific problems has been identified, some hypotheses have been indirectly confirmed (about the impact of precarious employment and uncertainty in the future on fertility), but there is a lack of empirical data to assess and measure the impact of future perception (positive or negative) on demographic trends. The prospects of the study are related to the expansion of the empirical data based on both quantitative and qualitative (narrative) studies that allow to fix the relationship of perception of the future with decision-making affecting demographic behavior at the micro level; to find out whether personal perceptions can mitigate or aggravate the impact of objective economic situations on fertility, the impact of public discussions in the mass and social media on fertility
