Abstract

The essay of the outstanding German philosopher Max Scheler (1874-1928) “To the Idea of Man” (1914) presents his philosophical view of man in the middle period of his work (1912-1922). The essay is published in Russian for the first time. Among other works of Scheler, the essay stands out in that it presents his neo-Humboldtian philosophy of language, as opposed to the positivist one. The accompanying article proposes and substantiates a refined historical and philosophical periodization of the creative path of the German thinker. The book is addressed to those who are interested in philosophical and scientific problems of human origin, theology, axiology, ethics.
