Abstract

The article analyzes the specifics of the term «social space», which, being a sociological category, can be formed and changed under the influence of various factors. As actors of the space, we will consider the authorities and management, as well as the population. One of the factors influencing the organization of such a space is the regional agenda, since the analysis of events taking place in the regions can tell a lot about the nature and management style of its government, as well as identify factors of territorial inequality. Scientific problem is that various socio-political events can change the shape of social space, expand and narrow its boundaries. The inability of regional authorities to effectively solve the current problems of society can lead to an increase in the distance between the participants of the space, which, in turn, can lead to a misunderstanding of common goals and a mismatch of the actions of the authorities and the response of the population to their management decisions, as well as to an increase in the growth of regional inequalities. There were used the content analysis method of the main socio-political events in four regions of the Russia. The events of the regional agenda were selected by the Petersburg Politics Foundation and encoded by the author in accordance with the typology of social problems presented in the mass survey on the RSF grant (№19-18-00345). The study was carried out by the scientific team of the IS FCTAS RAS (2019–2021). Next, a comparative analysis of the data obtained was carried out with the results of a regional survey. The article presents the percentages of positive and negative events that occurred in the regions of Russia directly at the time of the mass survey of the population in them. A content analysis of regional events taking place in the regions at the time of the survey, as well as in the first months of 2022, was carried out. As a result of the analysis, an assumption is made about how much the actions of regional authorities in the process of solving certain problems affect the social space of the regions. The text also gives an assessment of how the population, being one of the factors of such a space, relates to solving the problems existing in the region
