Abstract

The article is written on the basis of statistical data, the results of expert surveys and the author's assessments of the processes of change in Russian-language education in the former Soviet national republics in the period from 1991/1992 to 2019/2020 academic year. The study shows generally irreversible changes in the number of pupils and students who received education in Russian for 30 years (after the collapse of the USSR). At the same time, in recent years, includingdue to demographic processes and some other factors, the number of schoolers, studying in Russian-speaking classes and schools in a some of Central Asian republics began to increase.
