Abstract

This article discusses the development and methods of communication with the audience of new urban activists based on two cases in the Komsomolsk district of the city of Naberezhnye Chelny. Within the framework of the study, the authors conducted 20 semi-structured interviews with the urban activists who built their activities around the cellular concrete plant and the residential area of the same name, preservation of the historical part of the city in the HPP settlement, as well as dialogue with various urban actors. We have identified the main features of the new urban activism, among which: focus on the inclusion of various actors in the practice of activism; focus on youth and the current agenda of social policy; the development of dialogue; representation of activism objects not as static and requiring protection, but as dynamically developing, constantly transforming. During the study of the practices of new urban activism, we noted the significant role of informal communication, including communication and interaction online and with the involvement of various modern means that allow new urban activists to find the entire audience and conduct a dialogue with various citizens, noting their various initiatives, using the opinions and views of each urban resident on the specifics and understanding transformations of urban space and a specific object of activist practices. Within the framework of the article, we have considered the practices of new urban activism using regime theory, which allowed us to consider the practices of new urban activism as an opportunity to co-manage urban projects through combining and combining various methods of activist activity and attracting attention to the object of protection.
