Abstract

The paper examines the knowledge needs of social entrepreneurs based on survey data (359 respondents) and in-depth thematic interviews (47 interviews) with the heads of social enterprises working in Russian regions; data from semi-structured thematic interviews (56 interviews) with the heads of organizations that form the infrastructure for supporting small and medium-sized businesses. The most common activity in the field of education - 26.4%; in the field of health and social services - 26.0%; culture, sports, leisure and entertainment - 17.0%. Only 18.6% of managers received the necessary educational services in support organizations, including 5.6% in the accelerator, 41.5% - various kinds of consulting support. Educational and consulting services are recognized by managers as the most useful (65.6%). The types of social business in which the region is most interested and which social entrepreneurs are ready to engage in, it is advisable to study, describe and offer for distribution in the regions. This activity could be carried out in cooperation with teams of universities, business support infrastructure organizations, successful social entrepreneurs.
