Abstract

The article examines the phenomenon of “responsibility for health” as a multicomponent structure, which is an important potential for improving the health of the population. The basis for the analysis was the materials of the study “Caring for Health” by FOM (2019) using “locus of control” as a psychological tool to detect fundamental differences in the positions of individuals: those who share a responsible attitude towards health and those who do not adhere to this point of view and has the opposite opinion. The analysis examines behavioral practices related to health care, informational and environmental factors, and the main types of motivation. This allowed us to conclude that a person’s life position in relation to health is correlated with both self-assessment of health, life satisfaction, and level of education, financial, professional status and place of residence. A person’s psychological orientation affects not only his health, but, in fact, all aspects of his life. That is why, based on the motivation necessary for this, it is necessary to create conditions for the implementation of positive behavior patterns. A number of social measures are presented for the active inclusion of the individual in the process of maintaining, strengthening, health and taking responsibility for it.
