Abstract

The article presents the results of the analysis of the opinions of students of modern Russian regions about self-government at the university. Based on empirical research at universities in Moscow, Volgograd, Astrakhan and Tyumen, it is shown that students have formed a request for the existence of student self-government bodies at the university. It is recorded that students of the periphery are less aware of the activities of student self-government bodies, but they show more interest in participating in its activities, in particular in the implementation of scientific direction. The paper emphasizes the importance of creating favorable conditions for the active participation of students in the activities of student self-government bodies, taking into account their request for the existence of such a system at the university. Stimulating and encouraging students' initiatives contribute to their active participation and involvement in the life of the university. When analyzing the popular areas of work of student self-government, it was revealed that civil-patriotic and sports areas are the least important for students. In Moscow, students have less confidence in leaders and representatives of self-government and attach the greatest importance to those areas of its activities that are related to the satisfaction of personal interests, while the areas of youth policy of the Russian Federation are the least significant. To attract more attention to these areas, it is recommended to organize projects and events that combine the needs of students and the values of the youth policy of the Russian Federation.
