Abstract

The article discusses the key stages of the formation of citizen science in the USSR. The authors actualize the role of scientifi c volunteering in the context of the formation of Soviet fundamental science. The key stages of the formation of civil science in the USSR are highlighted and the specifi cs of citizen science initiatives within each of the stages are analyzed.
