Abstract

On May 26-27, 2023, the All-Russian scientific and practical conference “Historical Demographics and Historical Geography: Issues of Fundamental and Current Research” was held. The main organizer of the conference was the Department of Historical and Regional Demography of the Institute for Demographic Research of the Federal Research Sociological Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IDF FNISC RAS). The purpose of the conference was to strengthen scientific cooperation between specialists in the field of studying the history of demographic processes, as well as joint discussion of current historical-demographic and historical-geographical developments in Russia and abroad. In addition, the objectives of the conference included familiarization with the results of research by the winners of the RSF grant competition on historical and demographic topics for 2022-2023. The conference was attended by scientists from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Kaliningrad, Astrakhan, Novosibirsk, Krasnoyarsk, Irkutsk, and Vladivostok. The conference was held with the support of the sector of agrarian and demographic history of the Institute of History of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the information support of a scientific journal from the list of the Higher Attestation Commission of category K2 in history “Historical Courier”, where in the thematic issue “Russian economic reforms in the 20th century: projects, implementation, social and demographic Consequences in the fall of 2023, articles from participants in this conference will be published. The organization of publication of articles by conference participants was provided by N. V. Gonina, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor, Senior Researcher of the Sector of Agrarian and Demographic History of the Institute of History of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
