Abstract

Two types of freedom - positive and negative - are scrutinized in their evolution and current understanding. These two types are put into the centre of liberalism and communitarianism, as basic contorvercies of modern ideology. In both of them civic education is interpreted very differently. The choice of the model is still voluntaristic and depends on personal choice of the educator.
