Abstract

The evolution of the concept of creative city during last two decades are under examination. The author questions the social effectiveness of the very idea of creative capital in the city. Not denying the importance of cultural identity and variabilty of cities in the age of globalization, we see that the real effects of creative city concept implementation leads to wider unequalities and unjustice in modern cities. The costs of creative capital are very high, public and open spaces are becoming basically under the control of high middle classes. The principal right to the city in such cities is everywhere frustrated.
