Abstract

The problems of the dynamics of socio-spatial transformations associated with the orientation development of one of the most important promising oil and gas region of the Russian Arctic. The possibilities of their solving based on interdisciplinary and sociological studies that were conducted by the authors and their colleagues in a mass survey of the population of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous district according to the representative samples in 2005, 2010 and 2015 and sociological diagnosis of their results in the context of different social groups of respondents (the old-timers, including representatives of indigenous peoples, settlers, rotational staff). Their results have identified are inherent to the Arctic region especially the social problems and requirements for scientific support of possible solutions. The role and significance of sociological research in the General problem of scientific study of the circumpolar regions. In the discourse of consideration of theoretical and methodological problems, the authors, in particular, provide authorities the information necessary for the preparation and adoption of effective managerial decisions, which cannot be obtained otherwise, in particular, with the help of statistics. This thesis illustrates the current situation with indigenous peoples of the North, other community groups and development of social potential of Yamal, continuance and completion of qualified personnel. The study of the Northern specificity of the quality of life of the population of the circumpolar oil and gas region of Russia, living conditions of various social groups to further industrial development of the territory leads to conclusions about the need for a significant strengthening of the sociological and interdisciplinary scientific support planned projects in the Arctic, and suggests a methodological approach to the selection of the most relevant topics of research.
