Abstract

The historiosophical view on Andrey Bely's novel «Petersburg» which allows to treat provocations as the general tendency of the century with an assumption of self-extermination of mankind in the global conflict is proved. Researches of socially destructive provocations described in the novel, lead to the conclusion that they are mainly singular – are rare and barely similar one to another, but at the same time are not eliminated. Their invariants can be found in the identity of the provoker to whom a special ratio of extraversion/introversion, fielddependence/fieldindependence and spontaneity/reflexivity is inherent. The article draws attention to the need of consideration of the social contexts of provocation which are studied by the variety of experts in the different countries and regions, though results of this study are most often not intended for mass audience and are poorly amenable to scientific generalization. The science is focused on objective researches, in the course of art development what is included in human activity, is not separated from the subjective factors and is taken in a peculiar unity with them. Therefore, namely artistic imagination of Andrey Beliy could predict scales of catastrophes of the XX century and realize their origins.
