Abstract

Unauthorized leave taking of children from organizations for orphans and children left without parental care is a serious social problem in all countries of the world. Firstly, in most cases they attest to the finding of a child in a situation of unhappiness. Secondly, studies show that such leave taking in the short and long term can lead to a significant range of negative consequences for the children themselves and their social environment. The purpose of the study was to clarify the phenomenology of the phenomenon of unauthorized leave taking, namely the factors and motives for the care of children from orphanages and boarding schools in Russia. The publication presents the results of a qualitative study, and describes the types of runaways.
