Abstract

The article presents the features of media presentations of ethno-cultural diversity ofthe population of Russian regions by providing the example of the North-Caucasiancommunities in print and electronic media of three Russian macro-regions (Tyumenregion with autonomous regions, Krasnodar Territory and the Republic of Adygeaand the Nizhny Novgorod region) for 2010-2015 years. A comparative analysis ofquantitative and qualitative characteristics of these communities is made. Followingthe method of critical discourse analysis there important information reasonsare considered: the main themes and contexts in which the communities are represented;speech techniques in the depicting of situations in which they take part; maincharacters and the role and images they are attributed by regional media.
