Abstract

The formation of a new social reality leads to the change of many scientific paradigms and theories or their revision. The increased attention to the problems of revolutions in General and the evaluation of revolutions of 1917 in Russia in particular, indicates the presence of a public demand for the study of theoretical and practical aspects of the epoch-making events of Russian history, as well as the scientific search for new approaches in their assessments and interpretations. The lessons of the revolution are important for assessing not only the current political situation, but also the future of the country, because in the discourse about the 1917 revolution, an attempt is made to diagnose the socio-political state of modern Russia through an appeal to the past. However, despite the huge number of studies and scientific publications, the concept of revolution is again debatable in society and the scientific community, and in the discourse on the issues under consideration, even among experts there is no consensus. Perhaps that is why a hundred years after the events of 1917 in modern Russia in the new historical conditions is a rethinking of the theoretical concepts of the revolution. An objective assessment of the events of 1917 in Russia will undoubtedly contribute to the consolidation of the nation, the formation of our national identity. In addition, the lessons of the past can prevent social conflicts in the present, and public dialogue on the most important events and problems of modern history of Russia can provide the formation of conditions for choosing the optimal path of democratic development of the country.
