Abstract

The features of the main stages in the development of ethnosociological research are considered. Changes in the thematic repertoire of publications, changes in views on the subject of research and the refinement of the object of study, shows the drift of ethnosociology from the interdisciplinary direction to the status of branch sociology. The main directions of research are considered, similarities are shown with the western sociology of racial and ethnic relations, and differences are noted, mainly in the disclosure of the methodology and the terminology used. Directions are identified that require study.
