Abstract

Bodies and sexualities as a subject of philosophical, sociological, anthropological and historical reflection took a peripheral location in the field of European social thought before the beginning of the 20th century. Thanks to the spread of Freud’s psychoanalysis, on the one hand, and of Husserl’s phenomenology, on the other hand, the issues of the body and sensual experience drew attentions of social scholars in the first half of the 20th century.
