Abstract

The theses consider the assessment by Russians of the changes introduced by migrants on the data of the European Social Survey (2016). It is revealed that the majority of respondents negatively assess the impact of migration on the country's economy, on the culture of Russia, and also on Russia as a place to live. With the help of linear regression, factors affecting the assessment of changes introduced by migrants are analyzed. Among the influencing factors are considered: economic, socio-demographic, contextual and cultural factors. It has been established that the economic factor has the greatest influence, namely, the level of income. With a decrease in the respondent’s income, his assessment of the changes introduced by migrants becomes more negative. The high level of religiosity of the respondent and his belonging to the age cohort of young people also contributes to an increase in the negative assessment. In connection with the data obtained, the question is being discussed of which policy with respect to migrants could be optimal in Russia.
